Configure EMS Desktop Client

To configure your EMS Desktop Client using Update 34:

The EMS Desktop Client communicates with the database via EMS Desktop Web Deploy service. The way EMS Desktop Client authenticates the service does not change depending on the SQL Server Authentication Settings. If you are using the windows authentication only setting in SQL Server for your EMS database, the connection string in the web deploy service's web.config file must include a trusted connection setting, such as:

<add name="DefaultConnection" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" connectionString="server=(local);database=EMS;trusted_connection=true" />

Versions Earlier Update 34

To configure your EMS Desktop Client using versions earlier Update 34:

  1. Access an EMS Desktop Client user’s PC and open the Registry Editor.

    Registry changes might cause irreversible damage if done incorrectly.

  2. Locate and expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

  3. Locate and expand Software.

  4. Locate and expand EMS Software if you are using V44.1, or Dean Evans and Associates if using EMS V43 or V44.

  5. Navigate to and select the EMS product folder, for example, EMS Workplace 6.0.

  6. Right-click and select New.

  7. Select DWORD (32-bit) Value.

  8. Rename the Value name to UseAuthentication.

  9. Modify the Value data to 1.

  10. Launch your EMS Desktop Client application to verify connectivity.
